Perfected not Perfect

Let me start off by saying this is being addressed to those who are truly devoted Christians. Not the Sunday Samplers, those going through the motions, or pretending to be Christians. Let’s start off with a couple of questions. How often do you put God down? Stop and think about that for a minute. Do you ever put God down? Hmmm, I wonder. How about this question …. How often do you call Him a liar? What!! Well, I, never!! No way, I would never call God a liar!  I’m sure that is what you said, isn’t it? Did you … Continue reading Perfected not Perfect

Rose Colored Glasses?

“But these rose colored glasses, that I’m looking through, Show only the beauty, cause they hide all the truth …” Chorus of the song by John Conlee – Rose Colored Glasses Isn’t it kind of funny how as we grow older, most of us end up needing some kind of reading glasses, or just denying that we do. Even people who have had perfect vision most of their lives rarely make it into their late 60 without needing reading glasses. When we put those glasses on, things up close are so much easier to see, of course, if we try … Continue reading Rose Colored Glasses?

Love and War by John and Stasi Eldredge

These are just a few of the things that are popping out at me as I read this book. Page 31 “Your marriage is part of a larger story, too, a story as romantic as any that has ever stirred your heart, and at least as dangerous. The sooner you come to terms with this, the sooner you can understand what is happening in your marriage” Page 34-35 … “It is a kind of incarnation, a passion play about the love and union between Jesus and his beloved. Which might help you appreciate why the fury of hell has been … Continue reading Love and War by John and Stasi Eldredge

Wild Goose Chase – Chapter 3

Mr. Batterson talks about when God came to Moses in the form of a burning bush. “God showed up. And an ordinary place – a bush on the backside of the desert – became holy ground. That seems to be the way the Holy spirit works, doesn’t it? He is predictably unpredictable. He loves to show up in wild places at wild times.” … “I think this is one of those stories in which the obvious can elude us. The holy ground wasn’t the Promised Land. It was right where Moses was standing. Don’t wait to worship God till you … Continue reading Wild Goose Chase – Chapter 3

Wild Goose Chase – Chapter 2 (continued)

Mark Battherson writes: “When Christianity turns into a noun, it becomes a turnoff. Christianity was always intended to be a verb. And more specifically, an action verb. … If the twenty-first century church said less and did more, maybe we would have the same kind of impact the first-century church did.” Now there is something to ponder and act on. I see this everywhere. The other thing that came to my mind is the word ‘love’. It seems that it has also become a noun instead of an action verb. Love as become known only as a noun, a title … Continue reading Wild Goose Chase – Chapter 2 (continued)

Wild Goose Chase – Chapter 2

The Cage of Responsibility – This is one of the cages that I feel like I am in based on his brief description of it. Maybe he will provide a key to open it up. Wow! It’s breathtaking. Mr. Batterson starts out talking about this guy, Wilson Bentley, who photographed Snowflakes. I just had to see some, so I googled it. I am amazed at the different pictures of ACTUAL snowflakes It amazes me that God would take time to design a process that would produce such uniqueness in EVERY flake. This man took over 5,300 pictures of snowflakes. We … Continue reading Wild Goose Chase – Chapter 2

Wild Goose Chase – Chapter 1

Yawning Angels – what a title. Puts pictures in my head just reading it. Also thought provoking … do angels yawn? Mark Batterson is the author of this book (also of In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day). He nailed something right on the head when he wrote, “We try to make God fit within the confines of our cerebral cortex. We try to reduce the will of God to the logical limits of our left brain. But the will of God is neither logical nor linear. It is downright confusing and complicated.” This is so true. … Continue reading Wild Goose Chase – Chapter 1
